Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your Honey login by requiring a one-time code in addition to your email and password each time you access the system. These codes are typically sent via SMS or email and are valid for a short time.

How MFA is configured
MFA is configured at the study level by Trialbee or the study Sponsor.
By default, MFA is required for all users in Honey, since the platform contains personally identifiable information (PII) and, in some cases, protected health information (PHI). This ensures enhanced security for sensitive patient data.
Each study is configured as one of the following:
- Required – All users must complete MFA at login (Trialbee’s default)
- Optional – Users may be prompted but can skip MFA
- Disabled – MFA is not required for any users in the study
If you're unsure how MFA is set for your study, please contact your study lead or support@trialbee.com for confirmation.
What if I don’t receive my MFA code?
Occasionally, MFA codes may not come through due to:
- Spam or junk filtering (especially with email)
- Delays in SMS delivery
- Outdated contact info on your account
Try the following:
- Wait 1–2 minutes for the code to arrive since it may be delayed
- Check your spam/junk folder if receiving by email
- Make sure your phone number and email address are up to date with Trialbee
- Do not request multiple codes in a row; wait for the first to expire before retrying
Still stuck?
If you've waited and still haven’t received a valid MFA code, email: support@trialbee.com
Include:
- Your name and email
- The study you're trying to access
- Whether the code was supposed to come via SMS or email
- When you last attempted login
Good to know
- MFA codes are time-sensitive and expire after a few minutes
- If your study uses MFA and it’s required, you won’t be able to log in without completing it
- Trialbee Support can verify your identity and assist if you're blocked
