Purpose: Explain what each study status color means on the Honey home screen so users can quickly understand whether a study is active, inactive, in closeout, or fully closed.

What the study status colors mean

On the Honey home screen, users can identify a study’s overall status by the color shown on the study card. This makes it easier to scan your study list and understand which studies are currently active, which are not yet live, and which have moved into closeout or archive.

Here is what each color means:

Green = Active: The study is live and currently active in Honey.

Yellow =  Draft / Never Active: The study is still being prepared and has not yet gone active.

Gray =  Inactive / Previously Active: The study was active before but is no longer active.

Blue =  Closeout: The study is in closeout.

Red =  Archived / Fully Closed: The study has been fully closed and archived.

How to read the color quickly

The study card color is meant to give you a fast visual signal before you even open the study.

• If you are looking for studies that are currently in motion, start with the green cards.
• If you are checking setup progress for future work, look for yellow cards.
• If you are reviewing studies that have stopped active recruitment or are no longer progressing, you may see gray cards.
• If operational work is wrapping up, the study may appear in blue for closeout.
• If the study has been completely finished and retained only as a historical record, it will appear in red.

What to expect in each status

Active studies are the ones most users will return to regularly for monitoring recruitment activity, candidate flow, and site progress.

Draft / Never Active studies are typically still being configured and may not yet be ready for normal day-to-day use.

Inactive / Previously Active studies are no longer active, even though they were live earlier in the study lifecycle.

Closeout indicates the study is in its wrap-up phase.

Archived / Fully Closed means the study has completed its lifecycle in Honey and is considered fully closed.
